Think of this as a two-for-one special of randomness.

In 1993, the WWF added some international flavour to the Rumble by drafting in All Japan and WAR veteran Genichiro Tenryu. They opened the forbidden door long before that was even in wrestling parlance, so to speak. The Japanese star worked a 13-minute stint in the bout before being chucked over the top rope to the floor by The Undertaker. That wouldn't be it for Tenryu's love affair with the Royal Rumble.

He returned for another crack in '94, and managed to last a little longer this time; Tenryu went 17 minutes before being eliminated by co-winners Lex Luger and Bret Hart. Side note: Imagine the kind of matches Bret could've had with Tenryu in 1993 or 1994?! They'd have been world-class, but probably wouldn't have been the kind of thing decision-makers would've been too interested in.

Tenryu also got to play a part in '94's WWF Title casket bout between 'Taker and Yokozuna. He was one of the many heels who ran in to make sure Yoko won, and he feigned horror as 'The Deadman' cut an in-coffin promo on everyone by vowing to return better than ever. Unfortunately for Genichiro, he wasn't called back to do anything once The Undertaker did launch that comeback.

The WWF tried to explain away Tenryu's involvement by claiming Mr. Fuji had hired him as a mercenary looking to make a quick buck. That didn't, however, explain why he was included in the Rumble lineup two years running. The promotion needed another warm body to fill up the match - that's as good a guess as any.
