Spare a thought for Lo Down pair D'Lo Brown and Chaz. They won a tag match on Sunday Night Heat vs. Kaientai to guarantee one of them a spot in the 2001 Rumble. Then, joy turned to dismay when Vince McMahon turfed them out and replaced D'Lo (probably) with TV's Drew Carey. Tiger Ali Singh was shook. Shook!

The funniest thing about all of this is that Carey blatantly had no clue what was even going on. He wasn't a pro wrestling fan, had never watched Royal Rumble match, and likely wondered why he'd agreed to let the WWF co-promote his own improv comedy pay-per-view that was happening around the same time. In return, the group wanted him to take a chokeslam from Kane and then 18 Tombstone Piledrivers.

No, just kidding.

In return, the WWF had Drew enter the Rumble as #5 and then crap his pants when Kane came out. It's just as well the comic was wearing dark colours, because he had to be fearing the worst even though he'd hopefully figured out everything was a work by then. Remembering the rules just in time, Carey eliminated himself by hopping over the top rope and out of the World Wrestling Federation for good.

Or so everyone thought. WWE brought Drew back and inducted him into the Hall Of Fame 10 years on from his famous spot in 2011. That was even more random than his Rumble showing. Jim Ross has since said during his podcast that Carey was a nice guy but didn't seem interested in grasping anything to do with the biz.
