Time to take another look at the match that'd become known as 'The Bob Backlund Classic'. OK, so nobody calls it that. Maybe, 'The Night Randy Savage Forgot The Rules' would be more apt, because 'Macho Man' tried to pin winner Yokozuna during a Royal Rumble. One too many pre-match Slim Jims rotted his mind, clearly.

Gorilla Monsoon must've been snapping into a few of those with Randy too, because he dared to call 44-year-old Carlos Colón "a youngster" as he merrily made his way to the ring for a short stay in the annual favourite. Carlito's dad did get to eliminate somebody (he tossed Damien Demento out of there) before being battered by Yoko, at least. That was better than many international guests got during subsequent Rumbles.

Sadly for Colón lovers everywhere (stop it immediately!), this didn't lead to a one-on-one with the soon-to-be WWF Champ. The company didn't even tease it like they have for countless other bouts that didn't happen in the end. Instead, Carlos took his one-strap red singlet back home to Puerto Rico and pretty much retired from active wrestling so he could train his sons. He's since been inducted into WWE's Hall Of Fame after dedicating time to his children.

Cool Dad points for him there. Both Primo and Carlito carved out decent careers for themselves in WWE, and the latter is still there today as part of the Judgment Day faction. That may have changed by the time you read this, who knows?
