"Kharma's a bitch!".

Not really. Kia Stevens/Awesome Kong is actually a lovely person, and it's a real pity that she never got to properly show off her skills on WWE's platform. Bet the creative team were gutted they missed out on the wordplay above though - you just know that line was coming from the mouths of many Divas in the early 2010s. There's no way the writers would miss that layup if they had the chance.

Kharma's inclusion in the 2012 Rumble isn't here because of her gender. Far from it. She wasn't the first woman to appear in the match (Chyna and Beth Phoenix beat her to it) anyway, and that wasn't exactly shocking by 2012. No, Kharma is here because she'd been off TV since May 2011 and nobody outside a very small few really knew what was going on with her on-screen future.

In reality, she'd been pregnant but tragically miscarried the child in December. The Rumble return was supposed to reignite interest in her dominant run as a rampant heel who could maul anyone and everyone on the WWE roster. It turned out to be a false dawn. Kharma never wrestled for the promotion again, and she was released that July amidst more fan confusion about what had happened.

There aren't many in wrestling's past who have a story to tell like Kharma's. She debuted to a lot of fanfare in 2011, vanished, then reappeared for just one match: The Royal Rumble match. If only things had turned out differently on multiple fronts. WWE fans wouldn't get to see what TNA viewers already knew - that Kong was great.
