20 Most Underappreciated WWE Stars Of The 21st Century

17. Damien Sandow

Few stars are charismatic enough to make two totally different gimmicks work, but Damien Sandow managed to do it during his short WWE tenure. He first came up to the main roster in 2012 as "The Intellectual Savior of the Unwashed Masses," a self-important robe-clad genius who wasn't shy about rubbing his sense of superiority in fans' faces. When that ran its course, he was repackaged as "Damien Mizdow," a stunt double for The Miz who soon became one of the most popular workers on the roster.

WWE badly botched Sandow's turn, though, putting The Miz over him and turning Sandow into a "Macho Man" Randy Savage impersonator. That had a pretty short shelf life, and he was ultimately released in 2016 to universal fan outrage.

WWE could have given Sandow a babyface push. They could have turned him back to his "genius" gimmick and revitalized him as a heel. They could have done a lot of things, but they chose to just give up on the talented star.
