20 Most Underappreciated WWE Stars Of The 21st Century
16. Scotty Goldman
It's been a slow transition for WWE to accept and push the kind of wrestlers who are typically seen as "independent" stars - smaller, more athletic men and women who don't fit the traditional WWE mold. Still, Colt Cabana - who got over in Ring of Honor for his sense of humor and personality as much as his ring work - looked like a sure fit for the multinational company.
Cabana joined WWE in spring of 2007 and after a year and a half in development, came to the main roster as Scotty Goldman - a relatively similar character sprinkled with some Jewish stereotypes. He had a couple of matches on Smackdown, disappeared for five months, had a couple more matches, and was released.
It's hard to say exactly what turned WWE off of Colt Cabana so quickly - it was like the decisions to call him up and not use him were made simultaneously. There was talk of a comeback during the "Summer of Punk," but it never materialized - and likely never will, now that Cabana is being sued by WWE's Dr. Chris Amann.
