20 Obscure WWE Tag Teams You Totally Don't Remember

10. The New Blackjacks

The original Blackjacks are a WWE Hall Of Fame tag team who wrestled all around the United States throughout the '70s and '80s. They were a huge success everywhere they worked, including the WWE, where they became Tag Team Champions, but their legacy extends beyond gold and glory. Blackjack Lanza and Blackjack Mulligan were as well known for their vicious, brawling style as their accomplishments, and they made a huge name for themselves because of it.

The New Blackjacks were WWE's attempt at recreating the team's success in 1997, and while the gimmick was nothing more than a carbon copy (right down to the thick moustaches and leather waistcoats), the team at least made a shred of sense. Barry Windham was Blackjack Mulligan's son, while Bradshaw was Lanza's nephew. If anyone was going to carry the Blackjacks' name into the Attitude Era, it had to be them.

Predictably, The New Blackjacks came off as a cheap tribute act. Windham was once one of America's most celebrated wrestlers, but he was far removed from his prime in 1997, and Bradshaw was still putting the pieces together. Their in-ring deficiencies made their matches a chore to get through, and The New Blackjacks were but a shadow of the team they were named after. Windham and Bradshaw went their separate ways in January 1998, much to everyone's relief.
