20 Obscure WWE Tag Teams You Totally Don't Remember

16. The Heart Throbs

WWE's tendency to pluck talent from their developmental system and thrust them into a prominent main roster position long before they're ready has never been more prominent than it is today, but it's far from a new practice. The Heart Throbs are a walking example of this: the duo were several steps behind their peers between the ropes, and their generic "pretty boy heels" gimmick never quite caught-on with the crowd.

Romeo and Antonio debuted in April 2005, when they lost to World Tag Team Champions William Regal and Tajiri. They remained in contention for the next few months and participated in a big title match at Backlash, but they were again unsuccessful, and their inability to capture the gold saw them shunted down to Heat.

Short-lived feuds with Eugene and William Regal and The Hurricane and Rosey followed, but 2005 was largely a write-off. In early 2006, The Heart Throbs started partaking in an ill-advised series of "Kiss Cam" segments with female audience members, but their run was drawing to a close. Antonio and Romero were both released from their contracts that February, and continue working the occasional independent show together to this day.
