'The Heartbreak Kid' was levelled with countless homophobic chants during his early days as a WWE heel, but it's hard to see the intent as anything other considering the aesthetic the company clearly had in mind for him from the beginning.

The original vintage resembles how the Police Academy movies would dress the punters in the Blue Oyster bar eight years earlier to 'scare' the straight-laced cops. In the fiery corners of New York's Manhattan Centre especially, the look was destined to draw disdain.
