20 Reasons Why WWE WrestleMania 37 Was An Absolute BLAST

3. Edge Comes Back Around

Echoes of Batista in 2014 ran through Edge's comeback run prior to last night, as the bedraggled Rated R Superstar struggled to connect as a returning babyface.

Appearances on the post-Royal Rumble episodes of Raw, NXT, and SmackDown tanked viewerships as evidence that Edge wasn't connecting flooded in. An uncharacteristically bland character wasn't getting over despite his incredible real-life story and recovery. Something that seemed inexplicable when he returned in the 2020 Royal Rumble was coming to life, and WWE had to think on its feet.

The increasing heel tendencies shown by Edge in the WrestleMania build paid dues on the night. Rather than being booed out of the building, Edge received the right level of cheers and support for his role, his character and actions married perfectly to the crowd's ebb and flow.

A job well done for Edge and WWE creative, saving him from becoming another Bootista.
