20 Reasons Why WWE WrestleMania 39 Absolutely RULED
19. Showcase Of The Mortals
Copious WWE cynics challenged the actuality of WWE's two WrestleMania Showcase matches. Neither bout had any meaning or requirement aside from being a barefaced attempt at cramming as many paydays out of the record-shattering revenue gate, but what occurred was a sterling masterclass in perfecting the four-team match formula.
The men's bout - which pitted The Street Profits, The Viking Raiders, Alpha Academy, and Braun Strowman and Ricochet against each other - was prototypical of WWE's current doubles division. No thought process is put into the matches, participants, or angles, but the resultant bouts invariably shine. The 'Mania Showcase was literally that; a showcase. All eight entrants shone, Chad Gable and Ricochet in particular, and the payoff was the most kosher of the four as Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins stood atop the pack.
While the women's bout - involving Natalya and Shotzi, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville, and winners Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler - failed to uphold the same majesty as its predecessor, it maintained a solid pace and flow to justifiably fend off naysayers debating its placement on the 'Mania card.
