20 Scariest Wrestling Moments Ever

11. Kevin Sullivan Raises The Purple Haze

When Kevin Sullivan came to Florida in 1982, he began using a devil-worshiper gimmick that made him a star and left some fans, 30+ years later, convinced that he was an actual satanist. He formed a stable known as the Army of Darkness alongside Luna Vachon, Bob 'Maha Singh' Roop, and 'The Snake Master' Abudadein, but the most intimidating member of the group also had the strangest debut.

Mark Lewin had already accrued thirty years of experience as both a babyface and a heel before joining with Kevin Sullivan, but in Florida, he would gain the success for which he's arguably best known today. In a skit taped for the wrestling broadcast, Sullivan and a female associate sat on the beach in black robes, with Sullivan speaking in tongues. Finally, his incantation worked, and Lewin - or The Purple Haze, as he was now known - emerged from the ocean. The demonic ritual was as frightening as it was memorable.
