20 Shocking WWE Plans You Won’t Believe

9. The Undertaker Hatches

Who knows where WWE would be without The Undertaker. The Deadman’s unparalleled longevity and mystique have made him the most important wrestler in WWE history, and a cornerstone of the company’s success for the best part of three decades. Without him, there’s a strong chance WWE wouldn’t have made it through the Monday Night Wars, and he remains a star attraction even today, at the ripe old age of 51.

The Gobbledy Gooker, meanwhile, might just be the most universally maligned gimmick of all-time. WWE’s dancing turkey hatched from an oversized egg on the same night that Taker debuted, but the gimmick was quickly shelved due to an overwhelmingly negative crowd response. Lord knows what convinced WWE that a man in a turkey suit would be a good addition to their talent roster, but never mind…

Hector Guerrero was eventually chosen to become the Gobbledy Gooker, but he wasn’t WWE’s original choice. Instead, Mark Calaway was set to debut as the Gooker rather than The Undertaker, and instead of establishing one of the longest, most impressive resumes in WWE history, he’d have likely been out of the company in a matter of months.
