8. Goldust's Breast Implants

Dustin Runnels deserves all the credit in the world. Not only is he an incredibly underrated wrestler, but he’s endured some of WWE creative’s very worst ideas, and more importantly, he’s made them work. The flamboyant Goldust gimmick should’ve been a huge flop, particularly when he kissed Ahmed Johnson, but Runnels owned it, and it speaks volumes of the strength of his portrayal that he’s still going strong today.

Despite all this, Runnels was dedicated to his act to a worrying degree. He allegedly wanted to take Goldust’s sexually ambiguous cross-dresser character to the next level, and approached Vince McMahon with one of the weirdest wrestling ideas you’ll ever hear: “pay me $1 million, and I’ll get breast implants.”

The idea was that WWE would film the surgery and use it as part of an angle, but Vince rejected it without question. McMahon has since tried to rubbish the claim, but Vince Russo later confirmed it in his biography, stating the move was “sheer desperation” from Runnels, who would’ve likely come to his senses in the end.
