8. Goldust
Unlike many others on this list, Dustin Runnels didn't use obvious fear tactics to make Goldust a success. Instead, the man played off homophobia and utilised mind games to unnerve people. Incredibly, the character was so powerful when it first arrived in the WWF, that many wrestlers had reservations about working with Runnels. Scott Hall was one of those people, more than a little weirded out by the 'Bizarre One'. Adorned in a platinum blonde wig and decked out in resplendent gold outfits, Goldust was the very definition of a wrestling freak. Speaking in riddles about his connection to Hollywood, he wasn't adverse to rubbing his hands all over himself and using sexual overtones to rattle rivals. Again, this was something Hall was apparently uncomfortable with, being 'touched up' by Goldust. Blowing kisses at the crowd and threatening to 'come out there and personally kiss' the fans, Runnels played the gimmick to a tee. Eventually, he'd turn babyface, but the initial appearances still stand tall as some of the most ominous in WWE history. It was impossible for people to turn their attention from the man, Goldust was entirely different to anything else many fans had ever seen.
