Nobody in pro wrestling has ever lived a life like Jake Roberts has.
Abuse, addiction, pain, the highest of highs and the lowest of lows have all been part of Jake's story, and tales of his stunning wrestling career and tumultuous personal life caused Joe Rogan's eyes to bulge when Roberts sat down for a two-hour interview on his 'Experience' podcast this week.
The pair, sitting alongside comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, covered a lot of ground. There were stories of Jake's early years in the wrestling biz, agonising accounts of the drug-fuelled demons that threatened his life, amazing insight into some of his best angles and even an anecdote about the time Jake accidentally scared the crap out of Jushin 'Thunder' Liger.
Nothing was off limits here, and it made the chat equally enthralling and harrowing. If you're sitting on the fence wondering why you'd want to hear Rogan pick apart the pieces of a life that's already been examined in-depth on film, in text and on podcasts before, then prepare to be captivated.
Here's what we learned from the chat and here's why you need to check it out...
