3. Consistent Booking For Sexy Star
Sexy Star is one of Lucha Underground's biggest stars. She's also the figurehead for LU's talking point about being a progressive alternative to mainstream wrestling. The issue is that when you've explicitly stated that Sexy is supposed to represent empowerment, you wind up inviting your audience to examine every booking decision through that lens.
She's like Cesaro: when he starts a losing streak, we all freak out and worry that WWE is missing a huge opportunity with him. Except that with Sexy Star, it's not just wins and losses, it's the writers straying from their own mission statement. Sexy Star suddenly being helpless and needing a "chivalrous" luchador to bail her out is LU's version of Cesaro losing to Miz, only the opportunity they're missing is to help combat the misogyny that's ingrained in pro wrestling. I'm not asking for Sexy to start tearing through guys like she's Goldberg, but she needs to be booked just like any other member of the roster.
No more Big Ryck beating her with a half-assed cradle because he "doesn't want to hurt her".No more Blue Demón or Vampiro stepping in to save her when her feuds get nasty. Having her lose or win on her own is the most important step toward having the fans accept her as a legitimate wrestler, and not just The Girl, you know?
