In 2006, Trish decided to leave WWE so she could take care of her mother after the elder Stratus was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. That, as the future Hall Of Famer would reveal on 24, wasn't the only reason why she strolled out the door so suddenly.

Trish was content with how women's wrestling had progressed, and believed things were in good hands due to fresh talent like Mickie James. This is something she told Vince McMahon when she crashed the boss man's office in '06, but she did agree to stay on and work until Unforgiven in her native Toronto that September.

After that, she was gone.

Stratus would still have left even if things weren't fraught at home with her family. She was keen to let someone else step into the breach and become a locker room leader for the females, and she fancied a break after six long years on the road.
