20 Things You Learn Watching WWE Since 1997
10. There's A Style To WWE Matches
It doesn't take too long to figure out that every single WWE match follows the same pattern. First, the good guy beats up the bad guy to establish himself. Then, the heel cheats or gets lucky and works the face over for a while. Finally, the babyface comes back (or gets the hot tag in a tag match), bumps the heel three times, and they trade big moves until someone wins.
WWE has popularized this pattern, and many other companies follow it. However, there are also other affectations that the company has added. For instance, just about every match - even two minute bouts on Raw - sees the heel grab a hold when he's in control.
There's also what's become known as "WWE Main Event" style, though it's changed a bit over the years with the addition of more athletic workers. That style was characterized by a slower, more methodical kind of ring work, with a lot of punches thrown in for transitions. Some like it more, some like it less, but it's part of what makes WWE's product recognizable.
