20 Things You Learn Watching WWE Since 1997

9. Triple H Really Isn't One Of The Greats

Stone Cold Steve Austin Attitude Era

This one's going to be a bit controversial, but after spending 20 years watching him dominate WWE programming, each fan has earned the right to form his or her own opinion about Triple H - and for many, he's had a heinous influence on the product.

Fans watching in the Attitude Era knew that Triple H wasn't a star on the level of Steve Austin or The Rock, and while he was the top heel during the company's most profitable year, that was pretty much the beginning and end of his positive contribution to wrestling. From 2002 on, he's been positioning himself at the center of most top storylines, stealing heat from other wrestlers, and working slow, boring matches (remember "WWE Main Event" style?) - it's been rough to follow.

Perception is reality, and WWE pushes HHH as the best of all time. Still, it doesn't matter how many world titles he wins or WrestleManias he headlines - he's not on the level of the men commonly called his peers.
