20 Times WWE Was An Absolute Mess In 2020

16. Otis As Mr. Money In The Bank

A cute idea, this, but ultimately a step too far for a novelty midcard wrestler whose 2020 should have peaked with the well-played Mandy Rose storyline.

Otis capturing Rose's heart at WrestleMania 36 was an earnest feel-good moment in a dumpster fire of a year. He never should have won Money in the Bank, though. While the former Heavy Machinery man is a fun personality with good audience connection, him grabbing the briefcase was the equivalent of booking the Bushwackers for a lengthy run as Tag Team Champions. Having goofball comedy characters in the orbit of World Titles (and tickets to World Titles, like MITB) undermines them greatly: at MITB 2020, WWE once again reduced the briefcase to a joke.

Things have scarcely improved since then, with Otis fading from the spotlight before dropping the case to The Miz, who is now booked like a glorified jobber on Raw. The clock is ticking ahead of his inevitable failed cash in.
