Back when he was an enthusiastic teenaged backyard wrestler, CM Punk was a member of a tag team called the Chick Magnets, with Chick Magnet Venom and Chick Magnet Punk.

The name stuck when he went to go about getting trained properly, and the origins of the name became largely irrelevant to his ongoing career. When he began becoming reasonably famous, people began to ask about the origins of the name, and Punk would just make up any old nonsense – Charles Montgomery, Crooked Moonsault, Chicago Made, etc etc.

Despite admitting the truth on the Best In The World documentary with WWE, Punk is still cheerfully lying about it today: in a recent interview for UFC, he claimed for the umpteenth time that he named himself after Chuck Mosley, the original singer for Faith No More.
