20 WCW Easter Eggs, References And In-Jokes You Never Noticed

18. "Dick Flair" And "Monday Nyquil"

One of the highlights of early ECW was watching not the mindbending and violent matches, but hearing ex-WCW employees verbally berate everyone from Eric Bischoff to Dusty Rhodes to Hulk Hogan to Ric Flair. A sign of wrestling's future, promising stars "held back" by WCW like Shane Douglas and Steve Austin cut amazing promos on a regular basis that did things like, involve Shane Douglas referring to Ric Flair as "Dick Flair," and Austin play-acting entire sketches making light of how less-than-optimally entertaining Monday Nitro was, as well as lampooning the apparently backwards state of WCW booking under Dusty Rhodes involving the main event push of Hulk Hogan. Spitting in the face of wrestling logic that promos against the competition make zero dollars for your own promotion, ECW's use of WCW for this aim is legendary.
