During the Raw and SmackDown episodes the week after the Royal Rumble as well as for weeks afterwards, fans tirelessly cheered for CM Punk. However, their hero had forsaken them. Punk failed to appear on either program that week. Sources alleged that he quit on the spot on the night of the Royal Rumble. That was the whole story that the WWE Universe received for a while. Punk finally cleared the air during the Colt Cabana podcast in late 2014 though, insisting that his speedy exit after the Rumble had landed him a suspension. He was led on for a few months until finally receiving news that he had been terminated by June. The same day that he got that news, he was also marrying AJ Lee. After lambasting WWE during the podcast, Punk swore up and down that he would never again return to the company. With the steady decline that his character took in 2012 and beyond, he can hardly be blamed.
