20 Worst Moments Of CM Punk's WWE Career

15. WWE Rushing His Return After His Departure With The WWE Title

The Second Summer of Punk. The pipe bomb. Whatever you want to call it, Punk had been threatening the WWE for a while, claiming that after July 2011's Money in the Bank show that his contract was up and he didn't plan to re-sign. Fans didn't quite know what to think; in the past, when Superstars like Bret Hart or Jeff Jarrett had significant gold but were about to leave WWE, Vince McMahon had a way to make sure those wrestlers didn't take the titles with them. However, Punk did just that. Shortly before, he had delivered one of the best promos in wrestling history when he tore down the McMahons and the WWE while name-dropping his indie wrestler friends. For a while, the whole world was talking about wrestling, unsure if Punk's exit had been a work or not. While it ultimately was, WWE pulled the trigger way too soon, as Punk was back in the company in time to become a part of the SummerSlam card. It killed any chance for considerable pressure and tension to build.
