20 Wrestlers You Totally Forgot Wrestled For AEW

2. Mercedes Martinez

This is the last time your writer will speak about All Out 2019's women's Casino Battle Royale. Promise.

The Joker in said match brought with it a forgotten surprise from All Elite Wrestling history, that being the debut of Mercedes Martinez. Mercedes looked like a beast here, being met with a tremendous reception from both the Chicago audience and the announce booth. Immediately hitting a range of suples on Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D, Sadie Gibbs, and Allie got her over as a potential winner. Her superb rolling Curb Stomp, a hoot of a move, on Bea Priestley was a f*cking great spot.

Martinez didn't need to win the match - a few eliminations would have been nice, though - because she could have instantly slotted into a top-tier slot in AEW's women's division. A forgettable AEW Dark match that November aside, Martinez proved as such with her world-class performance in this match.

Now a member of the NXT women's roster after evading failure via RETRIBUTION, Mercedes Martinez is still thriving, although your writer would still argue that a full-time AEW deal would have suited her style better. Just imagine a marquee title bout between her and Baker before being cynical towards the idea.
