On the October 8, 2012 episode of Raw, CM Punk punched out a fan who had apparently been pushing and shoving him as he stood in the crowd. Phone footage of the incident, however, revealed that Punk in fact punched the wrong fan, an innocent bystander who just so happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time while the actual perpetrator sneaked away unpunished. The heated moment was a major PR problem for both Punk and the WWE, who quickly offered statements apologising for the incident, while the security staff were also heavily criticised. It's undeniably a blemish on Punk's goodwill with fans simply because he acted so foolishly in an environment where he must've expected some fan contact, but of course, it wasn't exactly on the level of Hulk Hogan's racist rant...
