20 WWE Elimination Chamber Facts You Didn't Know

On the May 11 broadcast of Monday Night Raw, Michael Cole surprised us all with a piece of breaking news; on the last day of May, the Elimination Chamber would be making its return to WWE programming.

The timing is smart from the WWE—staging the event just hours before the expiry of the May free trials—though it has meant that the build has been relatively brief. Then again, how much of a build do you really need when the event in question features one of the most well-established and dangerous match-types in WWE history?

My guess is not very much.

Over the years, we’ve seen 48 different superstars compete in a total of 17 separate Chamber bouts since the structure was debuted at the 2002 Survivor Series. But that’s only the start of it. A great wealth of stats, facts and trivia have emerged over the course of this match’s 13-year history—some of which may be somewhat surprising.

Having listed off 20 pieces of Extreme Rules trivia that you may not have known, this month we take that same principle and apply it to the Elimination Chamber match.

As mentioned previously, we have seen 17 Elimination Chamber bouts in WWE history. And given the number of competitors involved, none of these matches have been particularly short.

Typically they tend to last about half an hour or so, which means that in total we’ve born witness to a whopping eight hours, 51 minutes and 39 seconds of Elimination Chamber action.

And with another two Chamber bouts confirmed for this year’s event, expect that total to have easily exceeded nine hour—maybe even 10—come the end of the May 31 show.
