20 WWE Retirements That Meant Absolutely Nothing

17. Hulk Hogan (2003)

Hulk Hogan is the king of fake wrestling retirements. The allure of one more match (as well as the paycheck that comes with it) is too much for him to pass up. Hulk will appear multiple times on this list, but one of the forgotten €œretirements€ happened in 2003, where Vince McMahon (as part of the storyline) stated that he will pay Hogan the rest of his contract to stay home. Then, in an homage to the Midnight Rider storyline from the NWA days, a new character named Mr. America debuted. It was obviously Hulk Hogan under a mask, and he even had €œReal American€ as his theme music. It was a really lame storyline, and took up significant chunks of time on Smackdown.
