From 'stupid' to sublime. Despite Vince McMahon's inceptual derision, the Royal Rumble proved the late Pat Patterson to be something of a creative genius, and having banked three decades of credit for idea, Patterson suggested one final alteration to the concept: a trophy for the winner bearing his name.

The mooted 'Patterson Cup' would have been presented to the last man out, been large enough to hold champagne, and featured all the names of past winners engraved on its base.
