20 WWE Royal Rumble Facts You Didn't Know
3. The Home State Heroes
There's no such thing as home advantage in WWE, a promotion which regularly books its babyfaces to lose before their (now virtual) local fans. That probably explains why just four men in the history of the Royal Rumble have outlasted the field in their native states - though two of those were billed from elsewhere.
The first was Yokozuna who, despite being a Japanese sumo star who didn't know a lick of English and hated all Americans, was actually born in California. He squashed everyone in the '93 Rumble, held at Sacramento, CA's ARCO Arena.
The next was Texan Steve Austin, who bagged his first of three Rumbles at San Antonio, TX's edition in 1997. The Undertaker flew the flag for the Lone Star State when he repeated Austin's feat in the city ten years later.
Hulk Hogan technically qualifies here for his '91 victory in Miami, FL. Though born in Georgia, the Hulkster grew up in Florida after his parents moved there when he was just one. At the time of his victory, Hogan was, of course, billed from Venice Beach, CA.
