20 WWE Superstars That Hacked Off Their Hair
7. Steve Austin
When fans think of Stone Cold Steve Austin's appearance they probably think of three things: a bald head, goatee, and black trunks.
Arguably the most popular superstar in WWE history eventually made it big-time after spending years down south in WCW and a brief stint in ECW. During his run in WCW, Austin portrayed 'Stunning' Steve Austin, a technical wrestler with long platinum blonde hair. It was the same look he had when he moved to ECW in 1995, but by the end of the year, Austin had cut most of his hair off, instead sporting a buzzcut when he became 'The Ringmaster' in the WWF.
Although Austin had the tools, he was far from an overnight success and this gimmick was a flop. The first move towards morphing from 'The Ringmaster' into Stone Cold Steve Austin was his look.
Gone were the green tights and buzzcut as the clean-shaven protégé of Ted DiBiase and in its place were black boots, black trunks, a goatee, and a head that was completely bald.
It was the first step towards becoming the Stone Cold Steve Austin character that would transform the wrestling industry; one small step for Steve, one giant leap for WWE.
