20 WWE WrestleMania Matches We Almost Got (And Why We Didn't)

8. Roman Reigns Vs. "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt - WrestleMania 36

The Fiend was the hottest heel in WWE, Roman Reigns was the biggest face, so the two were set for a collision course at WrestleMania.

After winning the Universal Championship from Seth Rollins in Saudi Arabia, Bray Wyatt's newest gimmick was set to hold the title until the Showcase of the Immortals, while Roman Reigns would challenge him in the main event after winning his second Royal Rumble. The story and the match was set and it would have been likely that the Big Dog would have beaten the Fiend to much rejoicing... or so WWE would have hoped.

Why didn't it happen?

Two rather major events took place that totally derailed these plans. First was the return of Goldberg at a Saudi Arabia event. Goldberg engineered the match so as to have him win the championship from Wyatt, completely burying the character and forcing him out of the main event.

Second was a certain worldwide pandemic that shut society down and made all the toilet paper disappear. Due to concerns about the health of Reigns, having recently recovered from leukaemia, he pulled out of the event entirely, and the Universal title match was totally rejigged to Goldberg vs Braun Strowman.
