Boxing matches have never gone down well at WrestleMania. Roddy Piper and Mr. T's match was closer to a cuddling contest with a bodyslam DQ to spice things up, then the Bart Gunn punishment knockout against Butterbean. So it's strange that WWE would think that third time would be a charm.

For WrestleMania X-Seven, a.k.a. the greatest wrestling event that is, was or ever will be, the idea was pitched for Triple H to face Mike Tyson in a straight boxing match going over six rounds. The storyline going in was likely going to revolve around the initial breakdown of D-Generation X, and "Iron" Mike's part in it.

Why didn't it happen?

According to an interview with Hunter himself, he claimed that Tyson was demanding "ludicrous" amounts of money to take the match. As such, that planned match was scrapped and Tyson didn't appear at all. Triple H meanwhile ended up feuding with The Undertaker, becoming Streak victim number nine.
