20 Years On From WWE In Your House: Canadian Stampede's Main Event: Where Are They Now?
6. Ken Shamrock
A relative rookie at the time, Ken Shamrock had several years experience as a pro wrestler and the embryonic Ultimate Fighting Championship, but did well to thrive in such a high pressure WWE main event spot so early in his tenure with the organisation.
In truth, though he'd reach similar levels at different times during his remarkably short run, it could be argued that his maiden 1997 spell was the closest he ever came to a regular spot at the top of the card.
Developing his character into that of an unhinged madman in his SummerSlam '97 splinter feud with the British Bulldog, Shamrock went on a tear throughout the rest of the year, and was a serviceable choice to briefly feud with Shawn Michaels in-between Undertaker matches and his eventual WrestleMania 14 dethroning by Stone Cold Steve Austin.
A heel turn in late-1998 finally earned him an Intercontinental Championship he'd fallen short of attaining during his tenure as a babyface, but less than year later he departed the company to revisit his roots in mixed martial arts.
In between repeated efforts to return to fighting with Pride, UFC and other groups, Shamrock was still considered a big enough star to be crowned NWA: TNA's first ever World Champion in 2002, but multiple MMA defeats and professional wrestling's expedited turnover has left him largely frozen out of both industries in 2017.
