Back to the business of non-title affairs, and a match that in January and February of 2012 was staged thrice in the space of four weeks.

The instalment that I’d like to focus on though was the one sandwiched in the middle from Super SmackDown Live, as WWE Champion CM Punk faced World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan.

Naturally these two put on a clinic in professional wrestling. And though the match was restarted twice—on account of interferences and shady pins—it was the final finish that really stuck in mind.

After Bryan delivered a superplex from the top rope, both men were rolled up into a small package. The referee counted three, but in the end was unsure of which man was the actual victor. Some may say it was slightly farfetched, but it was certainly refreshing to see an unorthodox finish that was original as it was surprising.
