22 Greatest WWE Champion vs. Champion Matches Ever

9. The Dudleys vs. The Hardys - Survivor Series 2001

992205

Another unification match that came about as the result of the Invasion, this time involving the Tag Team Championships.

The Dudleys and the Hardys would contest the WCW and WWE Tag Titles inside of a Steel Cage at the 2001 Survivor Series. It was Matt and Jeff who looked to be in the ascendency, with Matt having already escaped and Jeff only metres away from doing so atop the steel structure.

But ever the taker of risks, Jeff couldn’t seem to resist the ensuing adrenaline rush. Rather than simply drop to the outside and pick up the win for himself and his brother, he looked to hit the Swanton Bomb on a table-prone D-Von in the ring.

But D-Von had already moved. Jeff was sent crashing through an empty table, enabling the Dudleys to pick up the scraps and the victory. As if that wasn’t enough though, Jeff’s poor decision-making would cause a rift within the Hardys that ultimately led to the duo’s ugly demise.
