This time though, the two titles in question were indeed on the line; a Lumberjill match between Women’s Champion Michelle McCool and Diva’s Champion Melina would decide who the true, unified champion of the female division would be.

McCool who would eventually come out on top. A fracas with the Lumberjills had the referee distracted, resulting in interference from Layla. As Melina ejected Layla from the mix, it was McCool who promptly capitalised, catching her opponent with a boot to the face to before picking up the 1-2-3

As such the two belts were unified, but somewhat strangely it was the Diva’s Championship that remained at the expense of the women’s title. It was likely that the decision had more to do with semantics than anything else, but either way it still seems wrong to have retired a belt with more than five decades of history.
