Rowdy Roddy Piper is another example of a wrestler who had name value in the WWF, thus pushing up WCW's perceived value of him. He was good in his time, but the 1999 WCW Piper was way past his peak. He had a short run as US Champion, then feuded with Ric Flair over the control of WCW. How much did he make for that? A staggering $718,195. For that sort of money, you'd have thought he would've been main eventing shows each week. But basically he was just benefiting from the name he had a decade previous.
