22 WWE Stars From The 2000s That You Totally Don't Remember
16. Ricky Ortiz
Ortiz spent most of 2000-2006 trying to make it as an American football player, including a spell in the ill-fated XFL. Perhaps it was his time around Vince McMahon that convinced him to try out professional wrestling. Whatever the reason, Ortiz said goodbye to the football dream and started training in OVW in 2006. He spent a couple of years there, making his WWE debut on July 1st 2008 on the ECW brand as 'Atlas' Ortiz (the name was short-lived). Ortiz did a whole load of nothing on ECW before being drafted to Smackdown in April 2009 where he was repackaged as a hell. Trouble was he still completely sucked in almost every way. WWE released him from his contract in August 2009. Few were sad to see him go. Ortiz worked the indies in the years since his release but hasn't been too active in recent years. He still has ties to the WWE, though, as he has been dating WWE diva Layla since 2014.
