John Cena first became WWE Champion by defeating JBL at WrestleMania XXI, but the match itself was cut short and ultimately unmemorable. When the two clashed in an "I Quit" rematch at Judgment Day, pressure was on Cena to deliver as champion... and he succeeded brilliantly.

Cena came out to ringside on a semi truck, and it would come into play later in the bout. First, though, both men got their licks in on each other. Cena backdropped JBL through the announcers' table, but the challenger came back with a steel chair shot that turned the champion into a bloody mess. They brawled around ringside - with Cena smashing JBL's face through a TV monitor - and finally onto the truck. Cena tore off an exhaust pipe and threatened to hit JBL with it, but the battered challenger quit, giving Cena the win and saving himself from the attack. Nevertheless, Cena hit JBL with the pipe, then celebrated his major victory. The champ had arrived.
