25 Best Wrestling PPVs Ever
22. WWF Royal Rumble 2000
Best Match: Triple H Vs. Cactus Jack
Worst Match: New Age Outlaws Vs. Acolytes
This show so typified the oversexed ultra-violence of the Attitude Era that UK television station Channel 4 opted not to renew what would have been in incredibly lucrative agreement with the WWF. They even took the step of digitising blood on subsequent PPV broadcasts.
They were revolted at the oceans of blood and the intentionally disgusting sight of Mae Young's prosthetic breasts - but the Madison Square Garden crowd lapped it up, furnishing a diverse and thrilling card with massive heat throughout.
This was the night on which Triple H established permanent residency in the main event bracket as a result of a career-best, wholly selfless performance from Cactus Jack, who achieved this, ironically, by going on the (uncharacteristic) offensive in what began as a one-sided war. This was astutely designed to underline Triple H's eventual triumph.
The show was so bulletproof in execution that it even presented Tazz as a deadly proposition, who following which looked certain for a considerable degree of midcard success.
Taka Michinoku wasn't so lucky; his infamously painful-looking flat-face bump was the subject of much amusement to commentator Jerry Lawler.
