Ric Flair had no problem taking sh*t-kickings in the latter stages of his career, but he was particularly bold in his efforts with Edge in early-2006.

'The Nature Boy' had taking thrashings from 'The Rated-R Superstar' in the build-up to their astonishing WWE Title Tables, Ladders and Chairs match. Still used sparingly, was the first time the gold had even been defended in the stipulation match, but favoured Edge based on his vast experience with the implements of destruction early in the decade.

He didn't count on the evergreen 'Nature Boy's will to win, and even bigger will to still steal the show.

Flair took ungodly punishment for a man of his advancing years, sustaining multiple shots from chairs and ladders as well an eye-popping splash from a ladder in the ring through a table on the floor. Ashley 'Charlotte' Fliehr begged her downed Dad to fight back from ringside, but Ric's pained yelps betrayed his fortitude. Bloodied (because of course he was), Flair battled back, pushing Edge through another table as he attempted to snare the title.

With a hand on the belt, 'Slick Ric' was distracted by Lita, buying Edge enough time to win a dramatic fist fight atop the ladder and reclaim.
