25 Best WWE Raw Matches Ever

12. Shawn Michaels Vs Marty Jannetty (May 17th, 1993)

The former Rockers had enough on their plate as they headlined an unusually jam-packed early edition of Monday Night Raw. Still in its embryonic stages, the programme ordinarily maintained the television taping format it was ostensibly steering the company away from, with a match between two stars a sweetener for audiences force-fed a string of jobber squashes.

May 17th was a special night. Earlier in the broadcast, The as-yet-unnamed 1-2-3 Kid pulled off one of the greatest upsets in WWE history over Razor Ramon, rocking the foundations and raising the expectations of the wild Manhattan Center faithful.

Fortunately, Shawn and Marty still had a great match in their back pocket following their Royal Rumble disappointment back in January. A dramatic back-and-forth booked spontaneously when Jannetty emerged from the crowd earlier in the broadcast, Shawn's assuredness betrayed a panicked collection of kick-outs before a Mr Perfect towel throw knocked a stumbling 'The Heartbreak Kid' into a tight roll-up.
