25 Biggest WWE Epic Failures Of 2016
19. James Ellsworth
I'm sure there are those who have thoroughly enjoyed James Ellsworth thus far on SmackDown Live, but the chinless wonder has long overstayed his warm welcome on Tuesday nights. When he was brought in to beat AJ Styles that one time in early October, it was a cool little moment. But then he beat him again, and again, and was involved in several SmackDown main event matches.
And for what reason? Sure, his stupid-looking t-shirt sold well for a hot minute on WWE Shop, but other than that, he has zero appeal. WWE could have had a great underdog enhancement talent on their hands (a la Barry Horowitz), but in having him win so often, he quickly became a bothersome.
Turning him heel at TLC was a fine idea, and he definitely has legs in being a pest heel, but how long will that last? Thankfully, his role has been largely curtailed on SmackDown in recent weeks, but I'm not sure how much potential his pairing with Carmella has. If anything, that might drag her down.
The Styles vs. Dean Ambrose feud could have been so much more than it was had the focus not been on Ellsworth for a majority of it.
