When it was initially announced in the spring that the Brand Split was set to return, rumors ran rampant as to which familiar faces would be brought back to help fill out the SmackDown Live and Raw rosters. Jeff Hardy? Kurt Angle? Possibly even Rey Mysterio?

Well, much to everyone's excitement (not really), Jinder Mahal made his not-so-anticipated return to Raw in August, beating Heath Slater in a matter of seconds to earn himself a contract. And that was the only time he was ever relevant on the program. He beat Jack Swagger in a throwaway match a month or so later, but other than that, Mahal has been mostly utilized as an enhancement talent on the flagship show this year.

Truth be told, the former 3MB member was never anything special anyway, so it's not as if he should be pushed right now. Rather, WWE could have chosen literally almost anyone else to bring back for the Brand Split, and they settled on Mahal for some strange reason. Yes, every wrestling roster needs jobbers, but Mahal is not interesting in the slightest, making him a waste of a roster spot.

In so many words, WWE fired Damien Sandow for... Jinder Mahal. Think about that one for a second.
