25 Biggest WWE Epic Failures Of 2016
16. Curt Hawkins Returns
Curt Hawkins was re-signed by WWE this year for the same reason as Jinder Mahal: to add depth to the depleted WWE roster. Of course, no one thought he would be much more than a glorified enhancement talent as well, but he was a bigger disappointment because he is actually talented inside the squared circle and can be charismatic.
Unfortunately, the Chuck Norris-esque persona he has had portrayed thus far has been abysmal. WWE hyped up his return to the blue brand for weeks and eventually months, to the point where no one cared (assuming anyone did to begin with). And when he finally did debut, he lost to then-Intercontinental champion Dolph Ziggler within a mere matter of seconds.
Hawkins has been missing in action in the weeks since then, and with so much damage done to whatever credibility he had left, there is virtually no chance he can redeem himself as a midcard competitor going forward. Much like Mahal, he's simply wasting a spot on the roster at this point, and it's a shame because he is a fairly underrated wrestler.
Perhaps he can still reunite with his former tag team partner Zack Ryder once he returns from injury in the new year.
