No wrestling promoter tapped into the zeitgeist of the 90s sooner than Paul Heyman and, by extension, his dark, scruffy, beaten-up roster of ECW misfits. The most visually striking of these was Raven, whose long greasy hair, ragged denim cut-offs, and generally surly demeanour made him the wrestling equivalent of grunge music. Raven's attire summed up ECW perfectly: it was ugly and outlandish, but carried an undeniable attractive quality. Raven looked like the ringleader of ECW's twisted circus, and although his impact would be severely reduced upon moving to the bright lights of the WWF, it remains one of the coolest looks pulled off by a pro wrestler.
