No wrestling angle has infiltrated the mainstream in quite the same manner as the rise of the New World Order. Their distinctive black t-shirts became accepted components of wardrobes across the globe, even for those with a casual or very loose association with professional wrestling. Part of the reason the nWo looked so striking was because of their complete separation from Hogan's golden era. Suddenly the biggest star in pro-wrestling history hadn't just turned heel - he looked it too. The minimalistic black and white tones, sunglasses and bandanas made the stable look like the ultimate cool bad guys.
