With SummerSlam 1992 coming from Wembley Stadium, it was decided that England's own Davey Boy Smith would challenge his brother-in-law, Bret Hart, for the Intercontinental Championship in the main event. The result was the largest crowd in WWE history and one of the most memorable moments in all of wrestling.

With various Harts voicing support for either man -- and Davey's wife, Diana, at ringside -- the two men locked horns. Bret tried to dazzle The British Bulldog with finesse, but Smith's strength allowed him to stay in the game, nearly pinning Bret with a backslide. The champion used a sleeper hold to drain Smith, but the challenger fought back with a powerslam and suplexes.

When Bret finally tried to lock in the Sharpshooter, Smith escaped. He then reversed a whip, sending Bret to the ropes, and when the champion attempted a sunset flip on the rebound, Smith sat down on him. He held Bret down for the three count and won the title, ending an amazing match with a once-in-a-lifetime celebration.

It was the first time the Hart family was divided, but it wouldn't be the last.
